On the mend :)

Well, I said I'd be back in a month and it's turned into more than 6 now!
A lot has happened in the last 6 months so I'll try keep it as short as possible...
I got a specialist to build up my left work boot for me, and that has helped a lot.
I got really busy with work over the Xmas period, so I stopped gyming and didn't really find a lot of time for exercise outside of my daily work routine.
I drilled a ppull-up bar above the arch between my bedroom and kitchen so that i could still get some upper body workout done, and have been using this nearly every evening for the last 6 months.
Even with all the work i thought i was doing in the gym and in my daily routine, to strengthen my leg, I was finding that towards the end of the week my quad was really hurting me, some weeks, to the point where i would need to foam roll my muscles and would be in agony, some nights not even getting much sleep cos of the muscle pain.
Eventually I decided to seek professional advice, and went to see a biokineticist (something I'd been recommended to do since almost the beginning stages of my recovery).
Well, to tell you the truth, this woman has been a life saver!
If I can recommend to anyone out there who has suffered with muscle degeneration due to injury, or even misalignment or anything like that, do yourself a favour and go and see a biokineticist now!
She targets specific layers of muscles which i never even knew i had, and the exercises are so small in movemnet that i thought i was doing nothing.
Well i was wrong.
In the last 4 months she has taken me from being in pain on almost a weekly basis and battling to get round a 9 hole par 3 course once a week, to a pain free 3 months now, and regularly playing 18 holes on the full golf course and pulling my golf cart with all my clubs, etc along behind me!
Everything has gotten so much easier to do and my muscle strength has improved noticeably.
I still have another 2 months to go with her, and she has promised me that she will have my left leg as strong as my right before she is done with me.
I really could not be happier.
It comes with a price though.
1.5 hours of exercises every evening 6 days a week (ok, to be honest i get about 4 days a week done on average). That's an hour's exercises and 30min of stretches afterwards.
I see her once a week for a checkup and on that day she pushes me to my limits during that hour!
In the beginning i was sore the day after, but even when she really pushes me hard, the next morning i'm ready for more!
I'll drop back in and update soon.
If you're reading this because you want some sort of insight into how this kind of injury plays out with regards recovery, take my advice, see a biokineticist and you can thank me later...
Hugely positive about the future.
Hope this post helps you in your own struggles...
Peace
:)
